Sofia is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Bulgaria. Sofia has a population of over 1 million people. The story of Sophia is very interesting. It is one of the oldest European cities with a history stretching back over 7000 years. Evidence of prehistoric inhabitants has been unearthed in the city. The Thracians established their city here next to the mineral springs of the region. Sophia is located in western Bulgaria at the foot of the mountains which creates dramatic and beautiful views. -------------------- |
